A True American Hero: Dr. John Pryor 

On Christmas day 2008, Mike’s friend, protege and hero, Dr. John P. Pryor was killed while serving his second tour as an Army combat surgeon in Iraq.  The loss of John is a tragedy of incomprehensible proportions.  Beside his many friends, colleagues, past and future patients, John leaves behind his wife Carmela V. Calvo, three children, Danielle, 10, Frank, 8, and John Jr., 4, his parents, Richard C. and Victoria Pryor of Florida.  He also leaves behind another incredible hero and friend of Mike’s - his brother Dr. Richard J.
